Our education goals are to promote mental health awareness, coping skills, emotional education, healthy eating, eating and living in the seasons, soil health, plant health, animal and plant husbandry, insect and life science, water conservation, sustainable food systems, healthy food prep, food storage, and canning. Our mental health goals are absolutely fundemental to our mission. They hit very close to home, as many of our family and friends have been impacted by mental health disorders, self-injury, and suicide. Many have found that the garden and community has helped in their journey with their mental health. Our farm family is working on establishing programs including group therapy sessions, community gatherings and celebrations, meditation, drum circles, art, crafts and music all to take place in a community garden setting. We find that we NEED more connection in our lives and the community garden is our starting place to reestablish the missing pieces. Our physical health goals include yoga and various other fitness sessions to also take place in a community garden setting.
We want to grow local, sustainable, healthy food for all our community (both those who have plenty, and those who have none). We want to heal our soil, plants, and insects through organic practices, explore new ways to conserve water, and find solutions to lower our carbon footprint.
“Stay; Let’s play in the dirt.” Our playful tagline carries with it both great pain and a hopeful future. The semicolon is a nod to project semicolon, which is a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope to those who are struggling with mental health, suicide, self-injury, and addiction. “A semicolon is used when an author could’ve chosen to end their sentence, but chose not to. The author is you and the sentence is your life.” We want you to stay with us, and together, enjoy getting your hands dirty playing in our Earth’s beautiful gardens. There's something healing about digging in the dirt surrounded by people who love and support you exactly where you are. So stay; and let's play in the dirt. It's THYME to start HEALING.
